Certified Green Program

The Arizona Lodging and Tourism Association (AzLTA) and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) are pleased to announce an update to the Certified Green Lodging program.  This collaboration aims to create a more robust program that will help your hotel/resort continue to improve sustainability initiatives, while at the same time streamlining and modernizing the reporting process.  The first phase currently underway will provide a new and improved Green Lodging checklist.  In August/September 2017 we contacted program participants to collect data regarding energy, water, and several other areas. The information provided will establish baseline data allowing for improvements to be tracked and measured as data is collected and updated moving forward with the Certified Green Lodging program.

What’s to come?  We will have a new checklist approved by the EPA, there will be additional levels of certification to reward sustainability progress, and you will increase your ability to attract the increasingly aware environmentally-friendly traveler.

We’re excited for this valuable enhancement to help AzLTA members strengthen successful sustainability initiatives, while enjoying increased cost-cutting and budget savings.

Please note enhancements to the Certified Green Lodging Program are made possible by a successful grant award.  The Students for Sustainable Lodging Project is coordinated within the guidelines of the ADEQ Pollution Prevention Program funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
