The Arizona Lodging and Tourism Association would like to recognize Governor Jan Brewer; Board member and former Chairman, Mayor Greg Bryan from Tusayan and the Arizona Office of Tourism for their remarkable efforts in reopening the Grand Canyon during the recent government shutdown. Greg was relentless in his pursuit of an opportunity to reopen the Canyon and the Governor and AOT stepped up with immediate support. At this time of year, the Grand Canyon draws about 18,000 people a day who pump an estimated $1 million a day into the local economy. A special thanks to each of you for your tremendous support in reopening our natural wonder!
Immigration reform continues to be a major push for us at the federal level. Greg Bryan, Doug Yonko and Debbie Johnson recently spoke with Senator Flake’s office to reiterate our industry’s support of comprehensive reform.
Debbie Johnson, along with an Arizona delegation, will be traveling to New York this weekend for the annual AH&LA Fall Conference where more than 20,000 experts, hoteliers, designers, and vendors come together. Both of these topics are sure to gather great discussion, so we will continue to keep you updated.
