Tourism Local

With the 2012 Legislative Session undersway at the Arizona Capitol, it’s time to get to work and educate every elected official on the importance of tourism. More than 1,000 bills on an variety of issues will introduced and discussed this Session, which will require statewide tourism industry engagement. To tackle this effort, AzLTA has developed the new Tourism Legislative Or Community Action Liaison (LOCAL) program.

The program connects local tourism industry experts with legislators in their respective districts to serve as a tourism contact and resource. The Tourism LOCAL representative is charged with reaching out to their elected officials on the state, city and county level to offer any assistance or information related to tourism and also serves as the industry contact for any local or community initiatives in their area where participation from a tourism representative would be required.

This program designates trusted and community representatives to act as tourism industry ambassadors and provides a local-centric strategy that better resonates with elected officials. Please contact Debbie Johnson if you’re interested in being your area’s Tourism LOCAL. We need the full support from our Industry for the next Legislative Session!
