The AzLTA Hotel Foundation is now accepting 2023 scholarship applications through Friday, April 22!

Eligibility
- Students must be U.S. Citizens and Legal Permanent Residents.
- Students must be enrolled in a hospitality, hotel, restaurant, culinary arts or tourism program at a two or four-year degree-granting Arizona community college or university.
- Enrolled in at least 9 units at the time of application.
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 overall for all completed courses.
- Qualifying majors include programs such as Hotel and/or restaurant management, culinary arts, travel and tourism, sustainable tourism, and sports tourism.
How to Apply:
The application form must be completed by Friday, April 22, 2023 and submitted with the following attachments:
- A current resume of education, work experience, and other relevant information normally found on a resume used when applying for a job.
- A brief essay of up to 250 words describing your personal background, including answers to the following questions:
- Why do you think the hospitality or tourism industry is the right career choice for you?
- How will this scholarship help you achieve your career objectives and future goals?
- A copy of the transcript of classes completed and grades at your current school and the classes currently being taken. The transcript may be downloaded from the school website.
- May include a recommendation by the General Manager or operating officer of a lodging or tourism place of employment. Recommendations should be in writing.
- Digital photo/headshot in .jpeg or .png format for use in publicity, along with the photo release form.

- May 1: Scholarship Claiming and Payments

- Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund – The nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted to providing college scholarships for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI).
- American Indian College Fund – Provides Native American students with scholarships and financial support for the nation’s 33 accredited tribal colleges and universities.

- Goizueta Legacy Scholarship – Provides scholarships for the children of Coca-Cola employees.
- American Indian Graduate Center & AIGCS – The largest scholarship providers to Native students in the United States, awarding $15 million in scholarships annually and more than $200 million since inception. For almost 50 years, AIGC has funded students pursing undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees in any field of study at any accredited institution of choice, working with over 500 tribes in all 50 states.
- The NSHSS Foundation – The NSHSS Foundation fosters the growth of students pursuing the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math), business, economics, public policy, and environmental science and sustainability fields. Through special programs, including the NSHSS Honor Society, the NSHSS Foundation connects young scholars with additional opportunities to advance their education, personal growth and career interests.

The College Board Opportunity Scholarships – The program guides juniors and seniors through the college planning process and offers the chance to earn scholarships, from $500 to $40,000, for every action that students complete.
Other Scholarship Opportunities
Johnson & Wales University Chancellor’s Scholarship
This annual scholarship of $4,000 is given to one graduating high school senior planning to enroll at Johnson and Wales University – Charlotte. This award is renewable and administered by Johnson & Wales University.
Davidson and Jones Hotel Corporation Scholarship
This annual scholarship of $1,000 is given to a rising college junior or senior enrolled in a four-year culinary, hospitality, or related program in North Carolina.
Mary Margaret Traxler Scholarship
This award honors the late founder of the Greater Charlotte Hospitality News. It grants $2,000 to one rising sophomore or junior enrolled in a four-year culinary, hospitality, or related program in North Carolina.
William F. Carl Scholarship
The William F. Carl Scholarship honors the late co-founder of Golden Corral by granting $3,500 annually in scholarships to eligible children of employees working in the hospitality industry. William F. Carl was a firm believer that the dedication and hard work of hourly workers were the industry’s foundation for growth and success. It grants awards to any student under 24 years of age who is attending two- or four-year community colleges or university program in North Carolina.
Vickie Clark-Flaherty Scholarship
The Vickie Clark-Flaherty Scholarship honors the late senior product implementation manager for Golden Corral. It awards $1,000 to women in the foodservice industry. Clark-Flaherty epitomized what it takes to be successful in the foodservice industry: determination, vision and the highest work ethic.
Jimmy Alfano Scholarship
This scholarship honors Angus Barn employee Jimmy Alfano, who had a passion for culinary arts and mentoring young people. Students eligible for this award must have experience as a restaurant employee, with preference given to those with independent restaurant experience or a strong desire to work in an independent restaurant. There are three scholarships available, each in the amount of $3,000.
Pepsi “Service that Sells” Scholarship
Pepsi believes that excellent customer service is the key to success in the hospitality industry. This award is designed for ProStart students and alumni that are pursuing education in hospitality related careers and have already had some customer service experience working in a restaurant or similar job. The amount of this scholarship award is $2,000.
LM Restaurants’ Family Scholarship
In support of current team members and their aspirations, the LM Restaurants and the Moshakos family have designated two (2) annual scholarships in the amount of $2,500 for pursuit of higher education for eligible team members. Lou and Joy have an unwavering commitment to supporting education opportunities for their restaurant family. The family created these scholarships to make it a little easier for deserving, motivated students to pursue their goals and dreams.
Johnson & Wales University Chancellor’s Scholarship
